Álvaro Cuevas, invited speaker at SPIE Conference in San Diego
Álvaro Cuevas, postdoctoral researcher at ICFO, has been invited to give a talk on Quantum Imaging at the Quantum Nanophotonic Materials, Devices, and Systems 2019 Conference in San Diego, California, organized by the SPIE.
Every year, SPIE- The International Society for Optics and Photonics, organizes and sponsors approximately 25 major technical forums, exhibitions, and education programs, where more than 35,000 scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs showcase the latest innovations across a wide range of technologies.
This event will take place at the San Diego Convention Center (San Diego, California, United States) from
11 – 15 August 2019.
Alvaro’s talk is part of Session 5: Quantum Devices II: Single Photon Detectors, which will be taking place Thursday 15 August 2019 from 8:10 AM – 9:25 AM.
“Quantum imaging for enhanced microscopy and light modulation“
Beyond the electronics revolution of the last century, nowadays scientists explore the next steps for human development. In particular, the advances in optics and information theory have unlocked the doors for emergent and unexplored photon-based technologies, which represent a highly reliable way for exploiting quantum phenomena in practical devices. Single-photon avalanche detectors (SPADs) are one of the most important tools in quantum optics sensing, however, they have not been widely used for imaging purposes due to the technical difficulties in fabricating such kind of systems. Here I will present our recent developments in the field of single photon imaging with SPAD array cameras for quantum-based technologies. Our two main approaches are focused on beating the classical limitations of optical microscopy and to enhance light modulation processes for information coding.
